Harris County Commissioners extend disaster declaration, including mask order, until Aug. 26, 2020

HOUSTON – Harris County Commissioners voted 3-2 to extend the county’s disaster declaration till August 26 Tuesday afternoon. The action came after a second surge in Coronavirus cases in the city of Houston!

According to the speaker for Judge Hidalgo, because the mask order falls under this declaration and it is also extended to August 26.

The mask mandate went in effect on Monday, June 22, and it was set to expire on Tuesday if the Harris County Commissioners did not vote to extend it. The increase in infected cases made the commissioners decide that the right thing is to extend the mask order.

It said businesses must require employees and customers to wear masks. They must ensure social distance is maintained and sick employees stay home.
